Morgan & Morgan is pleased to announce that civil trial lawyers Scott Weinstein and Keith Mitnik have been named to the list of 2009 Florida Legal Elite attorneys. Last October, Florida Trend invited in-state members of the Florida Bar to participate in the voting process to decide which attorneys should receive this recognition. In total, 15,072 votes were cast and 918 lawyers were chosen as these year’s Legal Elite. This represents less than 2% of the nearly 63,000 Florida Bar members who practice law in Florida.
Weinstein, Mitnik, and the other members of the 2009 Florida Legal Elite were chosen for this honor by their peers. Florida lawyers were asked to name attorneys they hold in the highest regard or would recommend to others. Each lawyer was then given a score based on the number of votes he or she received. One point was awarded for votes that came from within their firm, and three points were awarded for votes from outside their firm. Then, the list of top vote-getters was examined using membership status and practice histories provided by the Florida Bar. Finally, a panel of previous Legal Elite winners reviewed the selection process and the list of finalists.
Scott Weinstein serves as the Managing Partner of Morgan & Morgan’s National Consumer Class Action and Mass Tort Department. He handles mass tort litigation, consumer class action litigation and complex commercial litigation nationwide. Scott has broad experience and is nationally known in the areas of consumer protection, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, and cases involving food-borne illnesses.
Keith Mitnik graduated from FSU Law School with honors 1984 and joined the law firm of Morgan & Morgan in 1997. He represents clients in medical malpractice, personal injury, civil rights/defamation, and commercial litigation cases, and has obtained many verdicts in excess of a million dollars. Keith is a Senior Trial member who has handled many high profile cases. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
