Teen academic camps are providing students with college prep skills this summer that they can't get from SAT and ACT prep courses.
When parents hear college prep, most think of the prep classes for SAT and ACT college entrance tests. But academic summer camps, such as SuperCamp, provide college preparation that goes far beyond test scores.
"SuperCamp prepares students with the learning skills and life skills necessary to succeed in high school, gain admission to college, and succeed at that next level," according to SuperCamp co-founder and president Bobbi DePorter.
SuperCamp addresses the whole student with its Quantum Learning methods that are also taught in thousands of schools worldwide by Quantum Learning-trained teachers. The life skills aspect of the summer camp builds an awareness of self responsibility, making the most of every situation, commitment, integrity, speaking with good purpose and maintaining a balance.
Students also gain communication and leadership skills that benefit them as they move through high school and on to college. The majority of SuperCamp graduates state that their self-esteem, confidence and motivation increased as a result of attending the ten-day summer enrichment program.
Ms. DePorter said that SuperCamp creaes a series of mini-success moments throughout the duration of each camp to deliver the results students cite. She also explained that there are several brain-based techniques within the Quantum Learning methodology that help to maximize both learning and retention among students at SuperCamp.
As a result, over 70 percent of students report increased grades in the year following SuperCamp.
A limited amount of space remains for SuperCamp's sessions this summer. Parents can go to www.QLN.com to link to SuperCamp or they can call 800-285-3276 to speak with an enrollment specialist.
