Just five days after undergoing a double lumpectomy in her battle with breast cancer, Giuliana Rancic returned to work at E! News. The 37-year-old was back at E!’s office Monday morning to resume her co-hosting gig.
"I'm so thrilled to get back to work and return to my E! family today. I still have a long road ahead, but thanks to everyone's overwhelming love, support and prayers, it will be an easier journey,” Rancic said.
"The E! viewers have helped me to get through this and stay strong more than they will ever know," she added. "I will be eternally grateful to them for their love."
Rancic revealed her diagnosis on the Today Show last Monday. The cancer was found while she was preparing to undergo another round of in-vitro fertilization. Doctors insisted she get a mammogram before IVF because pregnancy hormones can “accelerate” the disease. “I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong,” Rancic told Ann Curry.
She underwent surgery last Thursday. "She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out and is doing well at home," her husband Bill Rancic said. "She's a fighter and will come back stronger and better than before."
Rancic will now undergo six weeks of radiation treatment.
