Colorado Tanker Truck Crash Causes Oil Spill

A tanker crash just after 11am on Monday caused over 7,000 gallons of crude oil to spill, risking a nearby creek.

The driver of the tanker truck, which contained 10,000 gallons of oil, was going to fast around a curve when he lost control. Speed is a factor in a number of accidents, as a truck accident attorney can attest.

The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, but the oil spill is causing damage to the area. The truck is owned by Basin Western.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene. They are trying to contain the spill and prevent it from getting into a nearby creek that leads to the Delores River which pours into the Colorado River. The entire cleanup will take close to two weeks.

This accident didn’t cause too much injury but the environmental impact is very detrimental.

Accidents such as these can result in the serious property damage. With the help of a truck accident lawyer, the costs associated with this type of destruction can be recovered.

Accidents are generally caused by driver inattention, speed or various distractions, like cell phones. The victims of truck accidents deserve to receive fair compensation if a neglectful driver has caused them harm. A truck accident attorney will work to make certain they will receive a just settlement for injuries or damage to property.
