Nick News Tackles the Topic of Children and Plastic Surgery

Nick News is the longest running news show for kids and aired a special program on Sunday night. The program featured at least three young people who had some form of plastic surgery, like liposuction and rhinoplasty.

The plastic surgery industry is growing and is gaining new patients, many of whom are younger. Some kids have plastic surgery because of medical reasons. Many others are hoping to improve their looks and look to liposuction, and nose jobs to do this.

The show’s host Linda Ellerbee, talked to three young people, who underwent cosmetic procedures.

One young woman featured was the nation’s youngest liposuction patient at age 12. Brooke, who is now 18, had liposuction to eliminate extra fat. And before she was sixteen she had a tummy tuck, lap band surgery and a breast implants.  Brooke said she wouldn’t change a thing and the surgeries gave her self-esteem a boost.

Another young person featured was a 16 year old girl who had a nose job, one of the most popular procedures, because she was unhappy with the shape of her nose. Also featured was a young man, who had a breast reduction. For all of these young people the cosmetic surgeries changed their lives and they have no regrets.

Any type of plastic surgery can be beneficial to a patient if they have realistic expectations. They must also be mature enough to take care of themselves after the procedure. In the end it is up to their parents to evaluate if they are mature enough for plastic surgery. Some surgeons advise young people to hold off plastic surgery until they are finished growing.
