Wimbledon 2009 Round 3 Results: Venus Williams Moves into Round 4 at All England Club with Easy Win Over Carla Suarez Navarro

Venus Williams inched closer to a sixth Wimbledon title on Saturday after picking apart Carla Suarez Navarro in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 at the All England Club and advancing into the fourth round.

Venus used a commanding serve to control much of the match as she won 79 percent of her first serves put in play and allowed Suarez Navarro just two break point opportunities. Defensively Venus was solid as she picked apart the Spaniard’s second serve and collected five breaks on 12 opportunities.

Venus Williams has seven Grand Slam singles titles, five of them at Wimbledon and another two at the U.S. Open. The American has reached the finals at the Australian Open and the French Open but lost to her sister, Serena Williams, in both of those Grand Slam finals.
