Early Morning Truck Accident Results in Fatality and Hazardous Spill

A Tuesday morning truck accident on I-70 resulted in the death of the driver and caused asphalt oil to spill on the roadway.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the driver of the truck carrying asphalt oil was traveling southbound on I-70 when he ran off the road for some unknown reason. The truck drove up a concrete barrier and rolled over, spilling the oil on the highway.

The driver of the truck, Paul Cardwell died as result of the accident. Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The asphalt oil is considered hazardous, but crews managed to contain the spill. I-70 was closed for most of Tuesday.
