Minnesota Man Assaults Trooper during DWI Arrest

A Minnesota man was under arrest for DWI late Saturday night when he attempted to escape by assaulting a trooper with her own Taser. He could have avoided a slew of criminal charges if he just decided to hire a DWI lawyer instead of evading arrest.

State Trooper Darcy Gagnon was conducting what she though was a routine DUI stop when the man she was about to handcuff decided to attack. Trooper Gagnon had the foresight to notify dispatch that she was endanger right before Elijah Knowles grabbed her Taser and repeatedly hit her on the head. He attempted to pull the trigger on the Taser put the safety was on. Knowles then tried to get hold of her hand gun, but patrol cars were on the way.

As troopers arrived, Knowles was leaving the scene in hi vehicle traveling speeds up to 110 miles per hour. He was pursued for miles until he finally crashed and fled on foot, but the troopers caught him. He fought back the whole time.

A blood test showed that Knowles’ blood alcohol content was .143, almost twice the legal limit. He has had prior DWI arrests. He faces several felony charges.

Taking extreme measures to avoid an arrest aren’t necessary when a person knows of a skilled DWI lawyer.

DWIs can are serious and the penalties can be severe and have a negative impact on a person’s future. A DWI lawyer can lessen the impact this can have on a person’s record and keep them out of jail.
