Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Honors Contractor with a PERFECT 10

After successful completion of critical HVAC Sysytem cleaning project, Pure Air Control Services performance rating was off the charts

Pure Air Control Services, Inc., an indoor air quality (IAQ) industry veteran and leader, completed a critical, $117,000 project for the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) for the Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) in Hampton, GA. Charged with the environmental cleaning of HVAC ductwork for the ARTCC’s control room, Pure Air Control Services successfully met the project’s strict timeline of two and a half months—as well as its more unique challenges. In recognition of its stellar performance, the FAA honored Pure Air Control Services with an off-the-charts rating of “Outstanding” on the organization’s Contractor Performance Report (CPR).

Provided after a project’s completion, the report typically evaluates contractors on a scale from 1 (Poor) to 4 (Excellent), and a 5 as (Outstanding) in categories including Quality of Product or Service; Cost Control Rating; Timeliness of Performance Rating; and Business Relations Rating. In response to Pure Air Control Services professionalism and efficiency in eliminating dust, particulate and mold within the ARTCC’s extensive HVAC ductwork, the FAA rated the Pure Air Control Services as a 5—“Outstanding”—in all categories.

The FAA stated in the CPR that “ Pure Air Control Services has demonstrated an outstanding performance level that was significantly in excess of anticipated achievements and is commendable as an example for others, so that it justifies adding a point to the score. It is expected that this rating will be used in those rare circumstances where contractor performance clearly exceeds the performance levels described as ‘Excellent.’”

In addition to the project’s tight timeline, one of Pure Air Control Services greatest challenges was to work at the ARTCC at night in order to minimize the impact on aircraft flight operations in the southeastern U.S. In such conditions, the firm worked in difficult-to-access attic and ceiling areas that were located directly above the active air traffic DSR Control Room.

“They worked flawlessly without disturbing facility operations,”
the FAA report raved. “They were precise and efficient in thoroughly cleaning all ductwork. They were knowledgeable about the industry standards, their work was outstanding, and they did right the first time.”

“This was a very difficult and critical project that went over like clockwork due to the expertise of Pure Air Control Services,” said
Alan Wozniak, founder and president of the company.  Much of the difficulty was related to access.  Access included not only available time frames for performing work, but actual entry points into the ductwork.  The work was scheduled through the most demanding air travel period of Thanksgiving and Christmas with a hiatus on work during the peak periods. Access into the duct system was difficult, at one point, workers utilized harnesses to be carried down the return plenum.”

The FAA’s Outstanding rating is the latest in a slew of recognitions for Pure Air Control Services, including the prestigious Frost and Sullivan Product Differentiation Innovation Award. Other accolades include Letters of Recognition from the General Services Administration (GSA) for post-hurricane remediation efforts at the West Palm Beach Federal Courthouse,
