Billy Mays Found Dead in Tampa, Oxiclean TV Pitchman

Billy Mays has reportedly been found dead in his Tampa home.  Mays, the TV pitchman made famous by his infomercials for cleaning products like Orange Glo and Oxiclean, was found unresponsive by his wife Deborah at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday. He was 50.

Police say there were no signs of foul play. An autopsy will be completed by Monday afternoon to determine the cause of death. No other details were available.

MyFOXTampa.com reports that Mays was on board a US Airways flight that’s front tires blew out as it landed at Tampa International Airport on Saturday. US Airways spokesman Jim Olson says none of the 138 passengers and 5 crew members was injured.

Deborah Mays released a statement Sunday saying, “Although Billy lived a public life, we don’t anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect out privacy during these difficult times.”

Mays and fellow pitchman Anthony Sullivan are featured on the new Discovery Channel reality show ‘Pitchmen.’ The show, which debuted in April 2009, followed Mays and Sullivan as they sold new products through direct response marketing.
