One stuntman died and another was seriously injured Thursday in an accident on the Bulgaria set of The Expendables 2. According to reports, the unidentified men were filming an action scene involving an explosion and a rubber boat when the accident occurred. Details on what happened have not been released. The injured stuntman is said to be in stable condition after undergoing surgery.
The stunt was being filmed on the Ognyanovo dam near the town of Elin Pelin. None of the Expendables stars were on the set at the time of the accident.
Nu Image/Millennium Films, the production company behind the film, confirmed the accident in a statement Friday. "It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident,” the company said. “Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy.”
Local authorities are investigating the incident.
The Expendables 2 stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is set to hit theaters next August.
