After weeks of battling rumors of trouble in her short marriage to Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce. The reality star filed divorce papers Monday in a Los Angeles Superior Court. She cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and lists October 31, 2011 as the date of separation. Kardashian requested to not be required to pay Humphries spousal support.
Family friend and Keeping Up With The Kardashians producer Ryan Seacrest was the first to break the news this morning. “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her,” he Tweeted.
Seacrest later spoke about the split on his KIIS-FM radio show. "I've spoken to her briefly and she says she's sad and got caught up in all that was going on," he said.
Kardashian is said to have hired high profile divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented numerous stars including Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears and Maria Shriver. Neither Kardashian, 31, nor Humphries, 26, has commented. The pair wed on August 20 after just 9 months of dating. Their extravagant wedding was taped for a two-part E! special titled Kim’s Fairytale Wedding.
