Small Business Export-Training Program Introduces Global Social Media with Trainer Kelly Quattlebaum
ExportGA, an intensive three-month export training program offered to export-ready businesses by The University of Georgia's Small Business Development Center, recently added global social networking to the program’s agenda with social media trainer and public speaker Kelly Quattlebaum, president of Global Marcoms, a full-service marketing and communications company based in Atlanta that offers social media training and management. Quattlebaum’s presentation, Social Media’s Role in the Global Marketplace, discussed social networking usage worldwide and explained how tools such as blogs, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, can be utilized to reach an international audience.
“With 75% of the 800 million Facebook users based outside of the U.S., it is clear that social networking can enable businesses to reach potential customers all over the world,” said Quattlebaum. “Social media tools provide direct access to customer sentiment, demand and interest, all of which are valuable to businesses interested in expanding their offering overseas.”
“The group was very interested in Kelly’s presentation, and seemed impressed with her knowledge of social networking in the global marketplace,” stated Rick Martin, SBDC International Trade Center Director at The University of Georgia. “Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received from the group, we will likely add social media worldwide to next year’s program as well.”
Quattlebaum uses her knowledge of social media marketing to train executives and professionals in Atlanta to utilize social networking tools, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Foursquare, for business development, networking and brand awareness. Quattlebaum was one of 10 guest speakers to present to the group of 15 Georgia-based companies that took part in the ExportGA Program.
