Kris Humphries was apparently blindsided by his wife’s divorce filing on Monday. In a statement released shortly after Kim Kardashian confirmed she had filed for divorce just 72 days after their wedding, the New Jersey Nets star said he remains committed to their marriage.
"I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce," Humphries, 26, said. "I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
Kardashian, 31, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and listed October 31, 2011 as the date of separation. She also requested that she not be required to pay Humphries spousal support. The pair has a prenuptial agreement in place.
In a statement to E!, Kardashian said divorce “was not an easy decision.” “I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best,” she said.
No other details have been released. Kardashian and Humphries wed on August 20 after just 9 months of dating. Their extravagant wedding was taped for a two-part E! special titled Kim’s Fairytale Wedding.
