Actor Leonard Stone, who is perhaps best known for playing the father of Violet Beauregard in the 1971 classic Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, has died after a battle with cancer. A rep confirms Stone passed away Wednesday, just one day before his 88th birthday.
Stone has a long and successful acting career with supporting roles in over 120 TV shows and 35 films. His first credits date back to 1956. Stone’s last role was in the 2006 film Surrender Dorothy. Some of his credits include M*A*S*H, Barney Miller, All in the Family, L.A. Law, General Hospital, Sanford and Son and The Waltons.
Stone is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carole Kleinman, and their daughter.
