Although Jenna Morasca admits she is devastated by longtime love Ethan Zohn’s cancer relapse, the Survivor winner is remaining strong and moving forward with plans for their future.
"This time was a lot more devastating for me because we'd already been through so much. We really had moved on with our life and we had a lot of stuff we wanted to do that didn't involve cancer – I didn't think we'd have to do this again,” she explains to People magazine.
Zohn, 37, found out his Hodgkin’s Lymphoma had returned in September after 20 months of remission. "For him, I'm strong and I put my armor on," Morasca says of when she heard the news. "I told him, 'We're going to put things in our calendar. We're going to make plans forever and cancer is going to have to work around our schedule.'”
"In front of the person you love, you're unbeatable, but alone I can sometimes be a giant pile of mush. I don't let him see me that way. If both of us are like that, who's going to rescue us and get us out of the funk?" she says.
"When we do get married, that whole 'in sickness and in health' is a joke," Morasca adds. "Just take that out, we already did that. You just realize how much you love each other and you want to continue on as planned."
For now, Zohn is undergoing a new form of chemotherapy that will not cause him to lose his hair. When the Survivor: Africa winner completes 12 weeks of chemo, he will undergo a stem-cell transplant.
