Paris Hilton arrested for drunk driving

Los Angeles police arrested Paris Hilton early Thursday morning after witnessing the Simple Life star’s erratic handling of her Mercedes-Benz SLR.
 
Damage control by her publicist, Elliot Mintz, was quick to surface “It’s the absolute minimum amount of alcohol in your system that would justify an arrest.” He picked up Hilton at the Hollywood police station after an officer issued the hotel heiress a sobriety test, which she failed.

Mintz offered several reasons as to why Hilton failed the sobriety test, stating she felt the effects of one drink due to a heavy workload, “one drink on an empty stomach after a full day’s work.”

Expressing regret over the arrest, Hilton has yet to determine whether or not she will contest the charge.

Hilton’s arrest follows Mel Gibson’s highly publicized July arrest in which he went on an anti-Semitic rant which landed him three-years probation.
