Arrests Made in Fatal Truck Accident

Georgetown, Connecticut. - Police have arrested two men who caused a fatal dump truck accident in August.

Warrants were issued for Charles Datillo, 43, and Bernard Esposito, 36, both of Norwalk for charges stemming from the accident. Both men turned themselves in this week.

Datillo and Esposito were driving the dump truck when a Volkswagen, driven by 71 year-old Frank Johnson crossed the center lane. The truck and Johnson’s car collided resulting in his death. Neither Esposito nor Datillo were injured in the accident.

When officers questioned Datillo and Esposito, the men stated that Datillo was driving the truck at the time of the collision. However, after an investigation, police discovered that Esposito was driving the truck without a commercial driver’s license. They two men face charges of interfering with police and making false statements to police. Esposito faces an additional charge of operating a commercial vehicle without a license.
