A Pakistani politician with the Awami National Party died Monday in a suicide attack outside a prayer ground in the Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to police officials, Hanif Jadoon was leaving the mosque after completing his morning prayers for the holiday of Eid al-Adha when a suicide bomber approached his vehicle and detonated explosives. Jadoon and his bodyguard died in the attack. At least 9 others, including Jadoon’s son, were wounded.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Awami National Party is often targeted by Taliban militants. No other details were available.
The holiday of Eid al-Adha, which means the feast of sacrifice, celebrates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son at the request of God.
