A top leader of the Arellano Felix drug cartel was arrested over the weekend in northern Mexico. The Mexican defense ministry announced Monday that 34-year-oled Juan Francisco Sillas Rocha, also known as The Wheel, was taken into custody in Tijuana on Saturday.
Defense ministry spokesman Col. Ricardo Trevilla Trejo described Sillas as the “principal lieutenant” of cartel boss Fernando Sanchez Arellano. Sillas helped lead the cartel in their war against the Sinaloa cartel and is “considered one of the most violent subjects responsible for countless killings,” Trejo said.
Three other men were arrested along with Sillas. Details on what led authorities to the men were not released.
