A jury of seven men and five women found Dr. Conrad Murray guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the 2009 death of Michael Jackson. The verdict was read Monday after two days of deliberation.
Prosecutor David Walgren accused Murray, 58, of “extreme criminal negligence” for administering Propofol, a powerful and dangerous anesthetic, to Jackson without proper monitoring. Jackson died on June 25, 2009 of acute Propofol intoxication. Murray waited 20 minutes after Jackson stopped breathing to call paramedics, according to witnesses.
Judge Michael Pastor ordered Murray to be held without bail until his sentencing on November 29. Murray faces up to 4 years in prison.
