The Duggar family is about to get bigger! Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have announced they are expecting their 20th child this April. The baby news comes nearly 2 years after Michelle was forced to give birth to daughter Josie at just 25 weeks due to preeclampsia. Josie weighed just 1lb., 6 oz. at birth, but is now a normal, healthy 1-year-old. She turns 2 on December 10.
“We are so grateful to God to announce I am pregnant with our 20th child and due in April 2012. After recently turning 45 and since it has been almost 2 years since Josie was born, we didn't know if we would be able to have anymore. A lot of people have asked would we consider having more children after what we went through with Josie being born 3 & 1/2 months early due to pre-eclampsia. That experience was one of the scariest things we have ever walked through as a family. We thank God, and are grateful for the many prayers offered on Josie's behalf. What a miracle she is, our little sunshine, she is doing wonderful!” the Duggars wrote in a blog post on their official web site.
“We do not take for granted the wonderful blessings of life that God has bestowed upon us! Many years ago, Jim Bob & I gave this area of our lives to God, allowing Him to grant life as He saw fit,” the couple added. “Our whole family is so excited that God has blessed us with another child. Each one of our children are thankful to be here! Our goal is to teach & train them to love God and serve others.”
The Duggar children include Joshua, 23; twins Jana and John-David, 21; Jill, 20; Jessa, 19; Jinger, 17; Joseph, 16; Josiah, 15; Joy-Anna, 14; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 12; Jason, 11; James, 10; Justin, 8; Jackson, 7; Johanna, 6; Jennifer, 4; Jordyn, 3; and Josie, 1. Joshua is married to Anna, 23, and they have two children together, 2-year-old Mackynzie and 4-month-old Michael.
