Wimbledon 2009 Round 4 Results: Roger Federer Earns Straight Set Win Over Robin Soderling to Reach Quarterfinals

Roger Federer played nearly flawless tennis on Monday as he worked his way past Robin Soderling in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5) at Wimbledon and now advances to the quarterfinals at the All England Club.

Federer hammered out 23 aces and didn’t commit a single double fault and only totaled 8 unforced errors in the match. In comparison Soderling committed 23 unforced errors and only had two opportunities to break Federer’s serve and was unsuccessful both times.

Federer is sitting on 14 career Grand Slam singles titles, tying him with Pete Sampras for most all time. He recently captured his first title at the French Open, marking a career Grand Slam for Federer as he has won Wimbledon five times, the U.S. Open five times and the Australian Open three times.
