Popular 90s rapper Heavy D died Tuesday afternoon at a Los Angeles hospital, authorities have confirmed. According to reports, the musician was having difficulty breathing when he collapsed outside his Beverly Hills condo shortly after 11 a.m. Paramedics were called to the scene and Heavy D, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Meyers, was transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center where he died around 1 p.m.
The exact cause of death has not been determined and is currently under investigation. Authorities say the cause of death appears to be “medically related” as there was “no obvious signs of foul play.” Meyers was 44.

His last album, Reggage, was released in 2009. Meyers also has small roles in several films, including The Cider House Rules, Step Up and Tower Heist.
