The Mexican government announced Friday the deaths of three government officials, including interior minister Jose Francisco Blake Mora. Mora died Friday in a helicopter crash along with deputy minister Felipe Zamora and the press office chief Jose Alfredo Garcia. Two crew members and four other passengers also died.
The helicopter went down outside Mexico City in Xochimilco. It was bound for the city of Cuernavaca. The cause of the crash is unknown and is under investigation.
Mora, 45, previously served as a state and federal congressman, a councilman in Tijuana and chief of staff of the Baja California government. He was appointed interior minister in July 2010.
