An explosion at a fast food restaurant in northwest China early Monday left at least 7 people dead and 31 others injured. The explosion, which was described by state media as “accidental,” occurred in Xi’an, Shaanxi province at a commercial building known as Jiatian International Mansion.
The Xinhua news agency reported authorities sealed off the area surrounding Jiatian in case of another blast. Most windows in buildings within a 1 to 2 mile radius of the restaurant were broken while cars and signs also sustained damage. The cause of the explosion is unclear.
