There has been no new news regarding the death of Daniel Wayne Smith, the 20-year-old son of Anna Nicole Smith.
According to reports, Daniel arrived at Doctors Hospital, a private hospital located in the Bahamian capital of Nassau, to be with his mother who had just given birth to a baby girl. Daniel landed in the Caribbean country Saturday night and apparently went straight to his mother’s room at the hospital. At some point Anna noticed him sitting in a chair seemingly asleep. When she attempted to wake him up he was unresponsive. Medical staff was called in and pronounced the 20-year-old dead at the scene.
Assistant commissioner of the Royal Bahamian Police Force, Reginald Ferguson, told reporters that an autopsy was underway to determine the cause of death.
Daniel was the product of Anna Nicole Smith’s first marriage to Billy Smith. The two were married in 1985 and divorced in 1987.
Anna Nicole Smith later married oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall in 1994. The businessman was 89-years-old at the time while Smith was 26. Marshall died a year later and a bitter inheritance battle between Smith and Marshall’s younger son E. Pierce Marshall ensued. Smith was originally awarded a large portion of that inheritance but was later stripped of any right. In May the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Smith could pursue her case in Federal Court. E. Pierce Marshall died a month later leaving the issue in limbo.
