In a new interview on NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams, former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky claimed he is innocent of all charges of sexual abuse of young boys. The 67-year-old said the only thing he is guilty of is “horsing around” with children.
"I have horsed around with kids," he told Bob Costas. "I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their legs without intent of sexual contact."
When asked about charges in his 40-count indictment, Sandusky said, “I am innocent of those charges.”
At one point Costas asked Sandusky about a specific incident in 2002 in which assistant coach Mike McQueary claimed to have witnessed him raping a young boy in the shower. Sandusky claims he and the boy were only playing. “We were showering and horsing around and he actually turned all the showers on and was actually sliding across the floor and we were, as I recall, possibly like snapping a towel,” he told Costas.
"I enjoy being around children. I enjoy their enthusiasm. I just have a good time with them,” Sandusky added.
Sandusky is accused of sexually abusing at least 8 boys between 1994 and 2009. An insider told CNN that more than a dozen other alleged victims have come forward since Sandusky’s arrest.
