Two Pakistani intelligence officials speaking anonymously say a suspected drone strike targeting a militant compound left 7 people dead. The strike, apparently carried out by the United States, occurred Tuesday in Miran Shah, North Waziristan. Two missiles were fired at the compound.
The officials said the dead have not been identified. No other details were available. North Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan, is a stronghold of Taliban and al Qaeda militants.
United States authorities do not publicly acknowledge carrying out drone strikes in Pakistan. Pakistani authorities have condemned the strikes as “counterproductive.”
