Delaware Man Trapped in Truck After Accident at Landfill

A Birdsboro man was trapped in the cab of his truck after another truck fell over at the Pioneer Crossing Landfill on Monday, according to The Mercury.

Charlie Martinez, 31, was at the landfill around 9am on Monday to dump a load of waste while another truck was doing the same. The trucks were parked side by side with their trailers raised, according to police.

The load on the second truck shifted, which caused it topple over and land on the cab of Martinez’s truck. Martinez’s legs were pinned causing him to be trapped in the crushed truck cab.

It took rescue workers an hour and a half to free Martinez, who was then flown to an area hospital. He was conscious during the rescue.

The weight of a commercial truck and the loads they contain can cause destruction and injury if an accident occurs. Because of the costs and injuries, the drivers may find that they need to find a skilled truck accident attorney to represent them if they face a civil lawsuit.

Truck accident lawyers have special knowledge in dealing with the various factors involved in a commercial truck accident which differs from a passenger vehicle accident.

In these types of accidents, the stakes can be much higher and obtaining a fair settlement depends on having a truck accident attorney with years of experience in dealing with this particular litigation.
