Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan have become the proud parents of a baby girl. Bachchan’s father Amitabh announced the baby’s birth Wednesday on Twitter.
"I AM DADA [Grandpa] to the cutest baby girl !! Ecstatic!" he wrote.
"As I travel back from the hospital I need to thank the media for keeping their word of not intruding our privacy. Deeply obliged!" Amitabh later added.
The baby is the first child for Rai, 38, and Bachchan, 35. The couple, who tied the knot in April 2007 in Juhu, Mumbai, has not revealed their daughter’s name. Rai’s pregnancy was announced in June.
Rai, who was crowned Miss World in 1994, has appeared in more than 40 films, including several American films like The Last Legion and Pink Panther 2. Bachchan is perhaps best known for his roles in Dhoom and Yuva.
