Occupy Wall Street Protesters Attempt To Disrupt NYSE Trading, Dozens Arrested

New York police say nearly 100 people have been arrested since Occupy Wall Street protesters launched a massive march aimed to disrupt trading on the New York Stock Exchange this morning. Police officers wielding batons stopped protesters from getting past metal barricades surrounding the stock exchange while others monitored the streets.

Police officials say 75 demonstrators had been arrested in the financial district by late morning. The majority of the arrests were for disorderly conduct, obstructing traffic and resisting arrest. Police confirmed at least one person was taken into custody for throwing an unidentified liquid at four officers. The liquid, likely vinegar, stung and the officers were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Protesters reportedly plan to march to 16 subway hubs later in the day before hosting a demonstration at City Hall. They also plan to march across the Brooklyn Bridge. Thursday marked two months since Occupy Wall Street began.
