More addiction treatment and recovery centers have developed and implemented amphetamine drug rehab programs

Any psychostimulant that is categorized in the phenethylamine class, which decreases appetite and fatigue while increasing alertness, focus, and wakefulness, is referred to as an amphetamine.  It is related chemically to methamphetamines which are potent drugs due to their ability of increasing the brain’s levels of dopamine and norepinephrine which eventually induces a euphoric state.  Additionally, amphetamines are generally classified as either appetite suppressants and/or stimulants.

One of the DEA’s current drug threats

Due to being a profitable favorite of many drug distributors and traffickers, as well as its powerfully addictive nature, the DEA now considers amphetamines as being one of the top drug threats in the US today.  Amphetamine addiction is a continually growing problem and has created a strong need for more and more amphetamine drug addiction treatment and recovery programs.

The US National Health Institute also considers amphetamines to be a major public health threat as well due to the fact that there are thousands of cases reported annually regarding deaths due to overdose and serious illnesses that are associated with amphetamine abuse and addiction.  In any case, the abuse of the drug and the number of addictions that have resulted has grown in exponential proportions over the past couple of decades.
