Researchers in Spain have begun further studying of a gene that they believe can be attributed to an increased incidence of alcohol dependence. The particular gene at the center of the study is called cannabinoid receptor 1 - abbreviated to CRN 1.
The research suggests that mutation of this particular gene in an individual may contribute even further to alcohol dependence in that individual when he/she consumes a large amount of alcohol.
