Back in August, people gathered to see the country duo Sugarland play at the Indiana State Fair. But high winds caused the stage to collapse, killing seven people and injuring over 40. Now the band is being sued by the victims of the accident.
Sugarland has been remorseful about the events and even gave free benefit concert for the residents of Indianapolis. For the victims of this tragedy, apologies and free concerts simply aren’t enough and believe that the duo could have prevented the accident.
The plaintiffs, including estates of four of the deceased, claim that Sugarland is responsible for the accident because the failed to cancel the concert with inclement weather closing in on the arena. A clause in their contract specifies that it is up to the performers to cancel the concert in case of bad weather, but because they didn’t cancel the show, the victims feel they were negligent and are seeking damages.
The victims are seeking unspecified damages for the injured to cover medical bills and other costs resulting from the tragedy. Recover the costs associated with an accidental injury is the primary reason people seek out an accident lawyer.
If an accident attorney is able to satisfactorily prove the negligent actions of one party caused death or injuries to others, they can be held responsible and forced to compensate the injured. With the representation of an accident attorney, victims can be assured that they will receive a fair and just settlement.
