CNN Radio Anchor Stan Case Killed In Car Accident

Longtime CNN Radio anchor Stan Case was killed in a car accident this week. Authorities in Birmingham, Alabama confirmed the accident happened Tuesday, but said no other details were available. Birmingham police Sgt. Johnny Williams said the cause of the crash is under investigation.

A Case family friend said Stan’s wife, Angela Stiepel Case, was injured in the accident. Angela, who has worked as a writer at CNN for over 20 years, remains hospitalized. The extent of her injuries is unclear.

CNN Worldwide president Jim Walton called Case a “great guy.” "Stan was a news anchor for CNN Radio and a mainstay of the network since he joined CNN in 1985. He was a fine journalist, a leader in our organization and, as anyone who had the privilege of knowing him will tell you, a great guy,” Walton said.

CNN Radio Vice President Tyler Moody also commented on Case’s death. "Our thoughts now are for his wife Angi's recovery, and his family during this difficult time. For over 26 years, Stan was our friend first and colleague second. He will be missed,” he said.
