The 2nd annual Cho-vember Fest was held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Houston, Texas and attended by over 200 people. Camp Cho-Yeh is a Christian summer camp that offers a variety of programs and activities for youths between the ages of 6 and 16 aimed at helping them build positive relationships. The Cho-vember Fest event was an opportunity for these campers to reunite and enjoy some time with old friends and counselors.
The event was nearly three hours of games, food and fun. There were over 20 different activities, ranging from an inflatable slide to face painting and egg-toss competitions. Throughout the day, campers earned tickets, which they could then spend on other activities like throwing pies at camp counselors or aiming the water gun assassins at their favorite staff members.
“Cho-vember Fest is a great opportunity for counselors and campers to get together and have some fun while spending time with people they met at summer camp,” said Garret Larsen, summer camp director at Cho-Yeh. “We always look forward to seeing our campers again and reliving some of the great times we had over the summer.”
Attendees were also eligible for a chance at one of the four door prizes, one of which included a Cho-Yeh backpack stuffed with many different supplies from the Trading Post.
One of the most popular activities of the event, though, was the Gauntlet. Campers were able to purchase items like flour bombs, water balloons, eggs, and tomatoes to throw at the Cho-Yeh staff as they ran though an obstacle course. Everyone ended up covered in flour, tomato, and egg yolk, but they also ended up laughing and enjoying the event. The proceeds that were generated by the Gauntlet went to Cho-Yeh’s mission trip to Honduras.
“The day was a huge success for everyone involved,” Larsen added. “We’re looking forward to seeing our campers again at Mid-Winter Madness in February.”
