Ontario Marijuana Addictions Fuel Drug Rehab Admission

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last year took apart 499 different grow operations of marijuana and seized over 200,000 plants.

The Narconon drug rehab program has seen a slight increase in drug rehab admissions from those who have become addicted to Marijuana.  In most cases, Marijuana is not the primary drug of choice, yet the person is still using it on a daily basis combined with their drug of choice.  Much has been done across the country to help battle the growing marijuana problems.  Reported in Ontario, Canada, in the city of London, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have conducted over 80 raids this year on illegal marijuana growers.  They have seized tens of millions worth of marijuana plant in the city.  There has always been much argument about legalizing marijuana and give the government control over selling it in licensed establishments similar to the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).  However, just like alcohol and tobacco products, the legal selling of marijuana will add to all of the health problems already facing Canadians because of alcohol and tobacco.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last year took apart 499 different grow operations of marijuana and seized over 200,000 plants.  They were able to successfully remove close to $300 million worth of drugs from the streets.  They also put forth close to 5000 different charges and convicted over 2000 different people.  With all of this extensive law enforcement being done in Ontario, it is also very important for residents of Ontario to receive effective drug and alcohol rehabilitation for their addictions.  If this is not done, the percentage of people returning to their addictions and returning to crime will only increase.

There have been some positive steps taken with drug prevention in the province of Ontario.  According to the Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), they reported the percentage of high school students whom have tried marijuana at least once in their life in 2007, is down from a report released in 1997.  CAMH also report that at least 10% of these teens are addicted to marijuana and use it on a daily basis.  If you or someone you know is struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction, call the Narconon drug rehab toll free at, 1-877-782-7409, or visit their website at, http://narconon.ca/
