Alexis Arguello found dead

Alexis Arguello was found dead today on July 1, 2009 at his home.  A Presidential spokeswoman Rosario Murillo announced his death and stated that an autopsy was pending.  The La Prensa newspaper reported that he was found with a gunshot wound to the chest.

 

Alexis Arguello was elected mayor of Managua last year.  His nickname was “The Explosive Thin Man.”  Alexis Arguello was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992.
