A final farewell for Steve Irwin will be aired tonight on Animal Planet. The broadcast will be shown from 9-10 p.m. EST.
The public memorial service will be held in the Crocoseum, an attraction at the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo in Queensland. Details have remained scarce about who may be attending and what role his wife, Terri, and their two children, Bindi and Bob may play. All efforts have been taken to present the memorial in a dignified manner and avoid any type of circus atmosphere.
Australia’s Prime Minister John Howard and Queensland Premier Peter Beattie will be attending the public service.
Up to 300 million people worldwide are expected to watch the live service.
Irwin died on September 4th after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb.
