Michael Jackson Album Sales Soar Since Death Last Week

Michael Jackson's album sales have exploded since his death last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Album sales for the week through Sunday hit 422,000 in the U.S., up from 10,000 a week earlier. The week's tally was greater than all the Jackson albums sold from the start of the year to June 21.

The top three albums were "Number Ones," "Essential Michael Jackson," and "Thriller." The Black Eyed Peas' latest CD came fourth. All three Jackson albums have sold over 100,000 copies each.

Jackson’s CDs aren’t the only products of his that are selling as DVDs and ringtones are also soaring. On Amazon.com, “Michael Jackson HIStory” is the No. 2 DVD sales, while “Off The Wall” is No. 2 for CDs.

For AT&T, Jackson’s songs “Thriller” and “Billie Jean” are the top ringtone downloads, while “Beat It,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” are in the top 10.

On iTunes, “Man in the Mirror” is the top selling song, while “The Way You Make Me Feel” and “Billie Jean” are in the top five. “Black or White,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough,” and “Beat It” are in the top 10.

On eBay.com, people are selling their tickets from his upcoming concert tour in the U.K. despite him not performing. Many consider the tickets to be collectors’ items.
