Grandson Of Rita Hayworth Dies

Andrew Embiricos, the grandson of 40s film icon Rita Hayworth, has died. The 25-year-old died of an apparent suicide Sunday night in his NYC apartment. His body was discovered by a friend who became concerned after he missed several appointments. An insider tells the New York Post Embiricos, who reportedly had a history of drug addiction and suicide attempts, was found lying in bed with a plastic bag over his head. Toxicology results are pending.

Embiricos is the son of Hayworth’s daughter, Yasmin Aga Khan, and Khan’s first husband, Greek shipping heir Basil Embiricos. The family confirmed his death in a statement released by a spokesperson for Yasmin’s Aga Khan Foundation.  "Of course Princess Yasmin Aga Khan and her former husband are deeply saddened by the death of their son Andrew Embiricos in New York on Sunday night. They would really appreciate if their privacy would be respected in the very difficult moment,” the rep said.

According to Embiricos’ LinkedIn page, he worked for Virgin Atlantic Airways as a sales executive. He also had a degree in psychology from Fordham University and helped in research led by the Alzheimer's Association. Hayworth died of Alzheimer’s at the age of 68.
