General Barry R. McCaffrey to Speak at Freedom & Recovery Conference
Four-star general will speak at conference highlighting mental health and addiction treatment for service members.
Over the past decade, terms such as post-traumatic stress disorder have become common. With President Obama's plans to bring troops home by the end of this year, it is anticipated that these soldiers will need help processing the trauma they have experienced. Foundations Recovery Network will address this subject head-on as they host their 35th national conference, Freedom & Recovery: Integrated Mental Health and Addiction Treatment for Service Members. The conference will take place April 23-26, 2012 in San Diego, CA, at the Hotel del Coronado.
The initial keynote address is being presented by CRC Health Group and General Barry McCaffrey will address the audience regarding the need for comprehensive substance abuse and mental health services. Specifically, he will target “Honoring our Veterans after They Honor Us.” McCaffrey will discuss the unmet substance abuse and mental health needs of veterans returning from America's conflicts abroad. He will present numbers that show the dimensions of the problem, including PTSD, drug & alcohol-related issues, as well as possible ways to move forward. As the nation's former “Drug Czar”, Barry McCaffrey has first-hand, applicable knowledge regarding this very time-sensitive topic.
