Mythbusters Experiment Sends Cannonball into San Francisco Neighborhood

An experiment conducted by the popular Discovery television show, “Mythbusters” was conducting an experiment on Tuesday afternoon when things went awry and a cannon ball was sent through a neighborhood, causing damage to family home.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported they were conducting an experiment at the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department bomb disposal range. The Chronicle stated the experiment involved large containers of water and a cantaloupe-sized homemade cannonball.

The cannonball was supposed to land on the water containers but the trajectory sent it off its mark into a neighborhood about 700 yards away.

The cannonball shot through the front door of a family home, flying through one of the bedrooms and finally crashing into the family van, occupied by a father and his 13 year-old son. The Chronicle noted that the cannonball “left a perfectly round hole in the stucco.”

No one was physically injured but the house and van sustained significant damage.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Discovery said, “All safety protocol was observed,” further stating they were assessing the situation and will work with the owners of the affected property.

All types of accidents are just a fact of life and an accident attorney will work to make certain that the people affected are taken care of. Damages to property can become very expensive and in order for people to receive fair compensation they can employ an accident lawyer.

If necessary, an accident lawyer can work with insurance companies if that is in the best interest of their clients.
