Militants on motorcycles launched an attack on oil tankers filled with fuel for NATO troops in Afghanistan Thursday night in Balochistan province, Pakistan. Local officials say at least 7 men used rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons to destroy 22 oil tankers being held in a terminal outside of Quetta.
The tankers have been stranded at the terminal since Pakistani officials closed both NATO supply routes through Pakistan to Afghanistan following a November 26 NATO airstrike that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers. NATO called the attack a “tragic unintended” incident.
No one was killed or wounded in Thursday’s attack. Police official Hamid Shakeel said all seven militants escaped the scene.
