Serena Williams managed to comeback from a set down and match point to knock off Elena Dementieva in a three-set thriller 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 8-6 on Thursday to reach the finals at the All England Club where she will now meet her sister, Venus Williams.
Serena hammered out 20 aces in the match and collected 45 winners while breaking Dementieva’s serve on 5 of 12 opportunities. Despite her impressive first serve Serena was up against match point in the second set but she managed to hold her serve, broke Dementieva and then served to win the set. Serena then outlasted Dementieva in the third to reach the finals.
Williams has achieved a career Grand Slam with four titles at the Australian Open (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009), three titles at the U.S. Open (1999, 2002, 2008), two at Wimbledon (2002, 2003) and a French Open title (2002).
