The 5-Phase Step Down Model is the basis of the Delray Recovery Center holistic recovery program for individuals who are suffering with alcohol and drug abuse, addiction, or dependency problems. There are no time limits on the 5 separate phases and the person is allowed to progress through them at their own pace until they have completed the program.
Phase I – Detoxification:
Without a doubt, this is the most difficult and unpleasant of the 5 stages as the individual will most likely through some very painful withdrawal symptoms. It is a very intensive and highly structured stage, but it is medically supervised so the individual can be as comfortable as possible. The Delray Recovery Center takes a holistic approach to detox and the withdrawal symptoms of this first phase while targeting the physical and psychological issues related to the individual’s abuse, addiction, or dependency issues.
Phase II – Partial Hospitalization:
This phase combines the benefits of inpatient holistic drug rehab and strict structure with the advantages of outpatient care which is comprised of low costs and scheduling flexibility. The program involves the individual working with the Delray Recovery Center clinical team which includes the facility’s medical director along with physicians, psychiatrists, and therapists. It usually takes two to three weeks depending on the needs of the client and may also be included with Phase III.
Phase III – Inpatient Residential Treatment:
By this time, the individual should have adjusted to their individualized holistic drug rehab program by the time they are transitioning into this phase. As they progress through this program, the emotional, mental, and physical issues associated with the person’s addiction are what are focused on. The individual will usually be in this phase for up to three months and can be combined with Phase II above if necessary.
Phase IV – Outpatient Treatment:
Once Phase III has been completed, the individual progresses into this phase and participate in a number of activities such as art therapy, group and individual therapy sessions, life skills workshops, therapeutic programs, supervised excursions on the outside and even Tai Chi. Based on how the individual responds to all of these, Phase IV usually lasts about 30 days.
Phase V – Substance-Free Living (Aftercare):
This is the last phase of the 5 and permits the individual to with the freedom of focusing on their bodies, minds, and spirits with the least amount of structure. The individual continues to build on the foundation they established during treatment and then maintains it in order to handle the challenges of everyday living when they transition back into society. Part of the Aftercare phase involves the continuation of group and individual therapy several times during the week as they continue to meet with therapists after they have returned home.
One of the more important aspects of any holistic drug rehab program is the quality of activities and programs that it offers its clients when they are undergoing alcohol or drug addiction rehab. These activities and programs are critical to supporting the person’s recovery from substance abuse, addiction, and dependency while they prepare for transitioning back into society.
The Delray Recovery Center realizes that lectures and tedious reading of material hand-outs are not helpful to developing all of the skills and strategies needed to sustain their substance-free lifestyle. New and exciting activities are mixed into the holistic drug rehab program so the individual remains focused and interested in their recovery. We also want them to be involved in fresh and positive accomplishments.
There are 6 different exciting activities and innovative programs for the individual to participate in including the following:
Before the individual can start to experience true recovery from alcohol or drug addiction, they must complete the detoxification stage of our Holistic drug rehab program. Detox involves ridding the body of all the toxins created by their addiction while at the same time being under the care, monitoring, and supervision of a medical professional on an around-the-clock basis.
With this assistance taken into consideration, the individual is kept comfortable so that detox is more manageable. This is also the reason why you should never attempt detox on your own as this can be potentially harmful and very dangerous. Medically supervised detox is the most comfortable and safest way to assist the individual through this stage of addiction treatment and recovery so they can progress into the ensuing stages.
Alcohol detox addresses bringing the addicted individual’s system back to normal after having the substance in their bodies for an ongoing, long-term basis. Precautions are taken against severe health issues which can turn fatal without medical care and supervision. Medications such as Clonadine and Suboxone are oftentimes used in drug detox to reduce and relieve withdrawal symptoms. These stabilize the individual’s vital systems while at the same time helping them to adjust to a life without drugs.
Depending on the clinical and personal needs of the individual, the Holistic drug rehab program is comprised of a broad range of alternative, Holistic, and traditional options. These services consist of 12-Step workshops, educational seminars, group and individual counseling sessions, Holistic therapies, and life skills workshops to enhance their new, substance-free lifestyle.
The Delray Recovery Center utilizes a variety of treatment and recovery therapies during the group and individual counseling sessions including the following 7:
At the Delray Recovery Center, we approach each individual in similar fashion. We evaluate them, understand their clinical and personal needs, and then treat them on an individualized basis therefore allowing them the time they need to achieve their goals through each phase of the holistic drug rehab program they are enrolled in. This helps to deepen and strengthen how they absorb new attitudes and behaviors while living in a safer and stable environment free from potentially harmful situations of everyday living.
True recovery for the addicted individual begins once they have completed one of our Delray Recovery Center Holistic drug rehab programs and are going to return home to their community. There are a number of challenges that will arise once they are returned to society which may produce considerable anxiety and stress for the individual. For most individuals who have completed one of our addiction treatment and recovery programs, the aftercare stage is an important step towards total recovery.
Our aftercare program provides the individual with unparalleled support once the individual returns home to their community to resume a normal, substance-free life again. While the individual is still here at the Delray Recovery Center, they will sit down with their primary counselor or therapist and discuss their aftercare options before they return to society. This oftentimes involves evening group sessions, individual therapy, and recovery workshops. The benefit of this is to create and maintain long-term relationships for future support.
