Iowa Teen Killed in Accident Involving Alcohol

A seventeen year-old man was killed in the early hours of Monday morning after being struck by another motorist. The accident occurred on Chapel Hill Road in a remote field where teens were gathering for a bonfire.

According to Davenport police, two teen girls were sitting in a parked car talking to two boys standing alongside the vehicle. While the four were talking another driver, Cody Lantau, 18, lost control of his SUV and slammed into the parked vehicle striking William Schwener and pinning him between the two.  

Schwener was standing by the driver’s side was pronounced dead on the scene from massive internal injuries.

The two young women in the car and the other mas standing outside were also injured and taken to the hospital. Their injuries are listed as non-life threatening.

Police have stated that alcohol played a role in the accident and several charges are pending.
