Narconon Arrowhead Supports Outpatient Drug Rehab for New York Residents

Work release inmates receive outpatient treatment in upstate New York

New York State Department of Correctional Services (DOCS) began a new Work Release program in 2007 for inmates who were eligible.  The outpatient programs chemical dependence assessments and counseling are provided by (OASAS) Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services a not-for- profit organization, which has administered a federal grant for the project of $500,000. Work release participants are chosen by the DOCS. The DOCS has a thorough screening process that they use to determine if an inmate who is close to release from their prison term is eligible to enter the program. Narconon Arrowhead the premier Narconon Center located in Oklahoma supports this type of program because it helps inmates get ready to return to society as productive law abiding citizens.

Although, outpatient rehab is never a substitute for a good long term inpatient program, giving these chemically dependent inmates a chance to deal with the addictions that landed them in prison in the first place will help them become more stable as they re-enter society. The Work Release program is the three part program. In the 1st phase the inmates do six months of residential treatment in a correctional annex. The 2nd phase re-introduces the inmates back into the community where they are required to maintain employment and participate in another six months of treatment. The 3rd and final phase of the program is parole supervision and the inmates are usually entered into this phase about 7.2 months before they are release from DOCS custody.

Rehabilitation is the key to success for any one who is suffering from addiction regardless if they are in prison or walking the streets as a free citizen. Locked up behind bars or walking freely amongst us in society, the individual who is addicted is still chained to their addiction unless effective treatment is gotten. Many people seek treatment but continue to relapse time and time again. The most successful way to free yourself, handle your addiction and related issues is to handle all aspects of the addiction: mental, emotional and physical barriers.

Physical cravings have been proven to be the number one reason for drug relapse. The best way to release all the drug toxins from the body and stop the cravings is to enroll in a detoxification program that will help you release all remaining drug toxins from the body. Doing this naturally with sweating in a dry heat sauna, exercise and a complete vitamin regimen is the most natural and healthy way to accomplish success and become drug free.
Mentally the individual needs to overcome the mistakes of the past and learn the life skills needed to be able to function happily in society once again. Emotionally the individual will mature after handling the guilt and depression associated with their addictions.
