Exciting New Way to Avoid Postal Queues on Busiest Day of the Year
Today is traditionally the busiest day of the year for the Royal Mail with an estimated 130 million letters and parcels being sent, which accounts for approximately double the average amount. It is expected that the rest of the week will also show higher than average yields.
But recently a new approach for sending parcels has appeared online. Working in a similar way to other market comparison sites, companies such as www.planet-parcel.com specialise in sending parcels in the UK with door-to-door services, all of which can be easily booked online.
The team at planet-parcel.com said ‘The site is designed to compare the market for parcel delivery services. Customers simply fill in a quote form, with details about their delivery requirements, and our site searches for the best available deals with our partners such as Citylink and Parcelforce. Then, once the customer has selected the service which suits them best, we pick up from their chosen address and deliver the parcels promptly - all of our services are express delivery’.
The website is simple to use, full of useful advice and partnered by the UK’s biggest insurer, Aviva, to ‘give customers extra peace of mind’. A spokesman for Planet Parcel said ‘At the busiest times of the year, such as Christmas it is great that we can offer customers excellent value and reliability whilst also saving them the hassle of potential queues at the post office.
The number of letters delivered by the Royal Mail was 5579 million in 1920/21 and 20196 million in 2004-05, falling back down to 16649 million in 2009-10.
